Roberta's Bio

I have over 20 years of experience as a Social Worker helping others in the social services industry. I am a registered member with the ACSW (Alberta College of Social Workers) and have been for the last 13 years. In 2017, I graduated with a Masters in Clinical Social Work. My focus of practice has been with families and mental health issues impacting children ages 0-5 years. I have previously worked in a tertiary program with children struggling with mental health issues such ADHD, ODD, Generalized Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have gained experience working with severe behavioural challenges and parenting struggles. I have worked closely with different school systems to create environments that optimize the success of children. In my practice, I follow priorities of treatment, which may begin with addressing issues such as sleep, toileting and/or feeding. I thoroughly enjoy facilitating social skills groups to help young children increase their self esteem and learn new ways to express

I have training in various programs such as Circle of Security Parenting (attachment), Anxiety Reducing Strategies, Neuro-relational Framework (sensory), Incredible Years (practical parenting strategies) and Gottman's Emotion Coaching.

When a family is coming to receive therapy they may easily be overwhelmed by the issue(s). My job as a therapist is to organize the issue(s), bring some clarity and find solutions that are helpful to them. I believe in solutions that thoroughly address the issue(s) and holistic approaches. I am a creative critical thinker that will work hard to find solutions and individualize each treatment plan to meet the client’s needs. I am dedicated to my practice and continuous professional development. I have a passion for helping families, mental health awareness and early intervention. I look forward to meeting each family with a warm, gentle and honest approach.

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my family, jogging and walking my dogs in the river valley. I also enjoy vintage and antique shopping.
