Services and Supported Concerns
You matter. And so does your mental health. Making the decision to attend counselling can be difficult but it is making the choice to care for yourself and your mind. I believe that in counselling, individuals are the experts of their own experiences and I am a fellow traveler on that journey. Counselling is a unique process built on trust and support. I have a firm understanding of the patience, empathy, and compassion individuals want when they attend counselling. Using a strength based approach, I take individuals where they are at in life. When working with children I use play based techniques to help children work through their feelings and other issues. As a current elementary teacher, I know that children communicate differently than adults. When little people are experiencing big emotions, I utilize a team approach with parents and children to develop a sense of calm using a variety of strategies.
I am a recent graduate of Yorkville University in the Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology program. I am awaiting my Canadian Certified Counselling Designation from CCPA (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy). Through this program, I have developed many skills to work with individuals that are dealing with a variety of mental health issues. Furthermore, I have over 7 years of experience working with children as an elementary school teacher in Edmonton in various schools. As a teacher, I have experience with a variety of mental health issues that children may go through.
