Ellen: child therapist

Ellen is certified in theraplay.

What Is Theraplay?

Theraplay is all about strengthening the bond between parents and their child. Think of it like this: it’s like providing the right kind of “food” for a child’s emotional and mental growth. Just as good food helps children grow strong physically, fun and caring moments help children feel loved and understood.

Research shows that when parents understand and respond to their child’s needs in a fun and loving way, it helps shape the child’s positive self-image and sets the stage for lifelong good feelings and behaviors. Our aim in Theraplay is to boost or fine-tune this loving, fun relationship between parents and their child.

During sessions, we bring parents and their child together to share these special playful moments. We guide parents to see and understand their child’s world better. Sometimes, this means parents also need to reflect on their own feelings or past experiences that might make it challenging to connect deeply with their child. Don’t worry, we’re here to support and help parents in this journey!

The key thing about Theraplay is that it’s all about teamwork. We bring families together to practice better ways of understanding and connecting. Our ultimate goal? To help every child feel truly loved and understood by their parents, and to help parents feel confident and joyful in their role.

Is theraplay Right for me and my child?

Theraplay is a fantastic way to help kids of all ages, from babies to teens, connect better with their families and feel good about themselves. Many parents, teachers, and doctors have seen amazing changes in children who’ve been part of Theraplay. They become more confident, happier, and get along better with others.

Whether a child is feeling shy, having a hard time at school, or dealing with bigger challenges like past traumas or certain medical conditions, Theraplay can be a game-changer. It’s like a magic key that helps unlock a child’s true potential and brings families closer together.

So, if any of these sound familiar, Theraplay might just be the helpful hand your family is looking for!
